Sam Gleisten
Grades 4-6 Montessori Teacher

“This simple activity achieved a number of goals--students were engaged in hands-on making, they looked at materials they could use from a different perspective, and they engaged with the design thinking process as they created something to fit the needs of a very specific character. The set up took just a few minutes to record instructions that students watched asynchronously. Then, after students had a chance to create their designs, they shared them with one another--often excitedly--and then took on a different design challenge--how to celebrate Halloween as a class remotely.”

Never again worry about which student has what materials

These activities only make use of everyday materials that are low-cost to no cost.

We understand your dilemma. You want to make learning not just meaningful but fun for your students (something hands-on activities can do!), but you don’t know what material students have at home.

You’ve probably already spent countless hours down the Google or Pinterest rabbit hole in search of hands-on ideas, BUT:

  • Not all of them work in remote learning situations
  • Many of them require materials that students don’t have immediate access to

This pack puts an end to all the guesswork because we’ve focused on activities that call for materials most people already have at home.

Which subjects and grade levels are these for?

There are activities in this kit for K-2, Grade Levels 3-5, and Grade Levels 6-8.

On the last page of each activity, we’ve given some ideas for how the specific activity can be applied to various content areas specifically for English/Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Math (but these aren’t the only ones!).

What exactly am I getting?

You’ll get a 36-page pdf with 9 hands-on activities that are ready-to-use PLUS supplemental templates (sheets) for some of the activities.

Each activity is presented in an easy-to-scan format with the following details:

  • Prompt (what the activity is about)
  • Materials Needed
  • What to Do
  • A Few Notes (to give you more ideas and room for experimentation)
  • Connections (How the activity can be connected to various subject areas)

All you have to do is assign the activity to your students directly or make a few tweaks first to make it more relevant to your particular lesson (this part is optional).

You only need to prepare the instructions ONCE. If you’ve recorded your instructions, you get to reuse that video over and over for your future classes!

How do I get the file?

IMMEDIATELY after purchase, you’ll be receiving an email from us with the download link to the pdf file. There’s no need to wait. You can get started right away!

Wouldn’t it be great to have students turn off their screens for once and get to fully experience learning by creating with their own hands?

Remote teaching has posed a great challenge for bringing hands-on learning to our classes, but with the right tools and a bit of strategy, we can make this work!
